Mountain View Rd. KOM Prize from Burnham Coaching

BurnhamCoachingLogoKOM winners will receive either a Professional Bike Fitting in our fit studio in Monterey CA ($150 value); or power analysis consultation reviewing past performances/training and providing a guide for future training. Our bike fitting philosophy is based on the belief that each and every athlete is unique with different ranges of motion, functional stability, and fitness levels; and the bike should be adapted to meet those unique needs. While many use bike fitting systems designed around the commonalities of cyclists, our process actually evaluates your individuality and sets you up in your unique position that combines comfort and performance. We use a combination of our extensive experience in fitting cyclists, mountain bikers, and triathletes; education within the US Olympic Coaching program; video analysis; and a computrainer to analyze how power is being produced on the bike.

Burnham Coaching is an endurance performance coaching service located in Monterey CA. Head Coach Chris Burnham is a USA Cycling Level 1 Power Certified Coach and has been coaching beginner through elite athletes for over 12 years. We are focused on endurance sports performance and utilize the latest techniques from technology and sports science.

Day of Catering!

Hey! So if you’re racing you’re probably aware that your registration does not cover the catering service. This is included in the more pricy Gran Fondo event. However, if you’re inclined, we will have meal tickets available for the pizza from our local natural food store, Boont Berry for $20 at registration day of the event. You can also purchase a meal ticket online with your registration on Bike Reg.

If you don’t, there are A LOT of other great options for post-race food like Laurens, Libby’s and the Buck Horn. And of course we’ll have all the hard cider you can handle at the Bite Hard Cider Shack across the street from the Boonville Hotel, where we’ll hold our post-race ceremonies – awards, drinking, debauchary – that sort of thing.

Look for the signs pointing towards the event on the highway so you can find the Cider Shack, it’s somewhat hidden but we’ll try to make it as obvious as possible!

Are you ready?

So the race is next week, that’s not too far off. A few things you should remember before coming up:

1. Where the heck are you staying? We have $15/nt camping at the fairgrounds, which is highly recommended. It’s in town, close to food and has showers and everything else you need. There are only 30 rooms in the entire valley. So if you haven’t booked a room yet and need a hotel because you’re the kind of person who needs that sorta thing, well your best bet is the Best Western in Ukiah – give yourself ample time to drive the 20 miles over the hill on race morning if this is your MO, since it’s a windy road.

2. Post-race festivities: We offer free adult beverages, beverages which can be consumed pretty quickly after dehydrating yourself in the June heat for four hours or more – so be responsible and act accordingly to get a DD if you need one.

3. Bringing someone who needs something to do during the race? Contact me at malnick at gmail dot com and let me know. We have spots for sag and neutral support drivers and other volunteer opportunities. A discounted reg fee is available.

For anything else, questions/comments/concerns/venting about how this event is put on let me know at malnick at gmail dot com. I’ll try my best to help you out, change our procedures and fulfill reasonable suggestions for improvements!

See you Saturday June 29!

Trophies Provided by Roderer Estate Again in 2013!

RE crest_colorThey were unique to the Bite Hard last year. Not anywhere on the race calendar do you find an event that hands out jeroboam sized bottled os Brut as trophies. These are NOT your typical bottle of Brut – these are three liters (or four 750ml standard bottles) of the best Brut you can find.

Roederer is a premier manufacturer of Brut, it’s roots firmly planted in the Champagne region of France, the Bite Hard road race is proud and honored to have them as a sponsor again for 2013. We know their bottles were well received in 2012 and can think of 10 lucky winners of their respective fields that went home with one of the 2 jeroboams, magnums or 750’s handed out to the lower categories.

We will again be handing out 1 jeroboam each for the P1,2 Mens and Women’s race; a magnum for the Mstr 35+ 1,2,3 and Mstr 45+ 1,2,3; and 750ml bottles for the remaining fields.

The bottles will again have the wine makers signature on them and the event name and date, so you can keep them as your trophy once you finish celebrating.

Size comparison: Kurt Wolfgang is really tall – he’s holding the Jerobaum after winning the 2012 Mens P1,2 race last year:
